Shucks.
It appears that the site that was hosting 5 Fact Friday hasn't posted anything new since the end of 2012.
I really enjoyed that one.
I guess there's no good reason why I can't post 5 facts on my own:
1. It's been about two months since I colored my hair and I think this time, I may actually go gray for good.
2. I watched two TV shows the other night -- one about metals and the other about the life of Henry Ford. And no, no one was holding a gun to my head.
3. The book I just finished reading by Nora Ephron (I Remember Nothing) was a bit of a disappointment.
4. I don't like reading magazines.
5. I quit wearing earrings about a year ago and now I can't wear any since the holes have closed up.

My husband watched part of the one about Henry Ford, too. Sorry to hear your book was a bit disappointing. I'm glad to have let my hair go natural. I get so many compliments!
ReplyDeletemy mom has gone totally grey/white & i know she feels her hair is so much more healthier. i can't imagine going without earrings for that long - when i finally got finished with my 3 piercings i had a big story i told my mom 1st (10 yrs old - which was pierced by a real doctor), 2nd (18 yrs old, next 2 were done at jewelry stores), 3rd (21st yrs old) would always tell my mom they were for the father, son & holy ghost ... ha. ha!! you don't even read like a horse, or farm magazine, maybe the farmers almanac? i'm shocked. do you feel you are wasting time or what? i know to me they don't have as much info. any more. a lot thinner. have a great weekend, Nancy ... my friend. ( :
ReplyDeleteNot sure what it is about magazines -- I prefer one long read as opposed to many short ones. Maybe that's it.
DeleteI haven´t done any of my own this Friday, but I enjoyed reading yours. :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't read a lot of articles from magazines, but I do like them for exercise tips and recipes.
ReplyDeleteGlad you kept it going...fun to find out more about our pals
ReplyDeleteIf you jab those closed up earring holes really hard with something sharp, I bet they will re-open for you... LOL OWIE!!
ReplyDeletei need to reopen my second holes. i left earrings out for too long and they closed :( number 1 is very brave of you but i bet you'll look great!
ReplyDeleteI'll take that bet Tanya! Lol.
Delete4.-me exactly the opposite
ReplyDelete5.-from time to time I remind myself about my earings, so I fully understand your pain:)
Blog about life and travelling
Blog about cooking
Have a great weekend nancy !!!
ReplyDeleteI hope letting your hair go works for you. I've said that for a couple of years. Supposedly redheads turn white and I can see around my temples that that is the case and I think it would be pretty but I can't make myself do it yet. :)
ReplyDeleteI love magazines. I like to read and articles are quick for a few minutes here and there and I like getting something in the mail besides bills!
I wear a pair of diamond stud earrings my hubby got me for an anniversary a few years ago. I wear them all the time with everything.
I stopped wearing earrings about 5 years ago. I no longer care about it for some reason.
ReplyDeleteI cannot imagine letting my hair go gray because that is a color I don't wear since it looks awful with my complexion. But I can absolutely see that it would look great on you. Go for it! If you're ready, that is:-)
Denise -- I've been ready for years -- just not sure everyone else is! Lol.
ReplyDeletehave never colored my hair and seeing more and more silver every day. :)
ReplyDeleteno earrings for me for years (as my ears get infected in about a 1/2 hr). free yourself! :)
Free indeed my friend! xo
DeleteHm, I thought I saw some other bloggers doing that 5 fact friday still, too, but I couldn't tell you who! That earring thing happened to me, but I was bound and determined to wear my earrings, so I made it happen. I don't have the attention span to read magazines, but I am open to looking at the pretty pictures!
ReplyDeleteTotally not ready to go the "grey route" yet. I'm fighting the good fight, lol. I'm with ya on the earrings tho....I'm san's holes in my head now :)
ReplyDeleteWell at least we have one thing in common Kathy! :)
DeleteFunny post! Happy days to you!
ReplyDeleteWe're still doing it. It's alled Five Fact Friday now. I'll look for the link when I get out of traffic. :)
ReplyDeleteOh Nancy you make me smile. I have not coloured my hair in 10 years "Power to the grey" in my case white. My ears grew over way before that Power to no pressure to look girlie" with dangling earrings and wondering if they will get caught in the baler.
ReplyDeleteI watch TV and enjoy documentaries "Power to learning", I read books I like "Power to the Pen" and choices
Oh dear I think I am done here:) Hugs B,
I have let my hair go too, hard to stop age.
ReplyDeleteI am so afraid to go gray. I have never colored my hair, just highlights, over the gray! I love reading magazines, short stories are my thing, my memory sucks for any long story/books. I just can't remember what I have read!
ReplyDeleteI sometimes find myself engrossed in some show on the History Channel my husband is watching and thinking, "by golly that was pretty interesting" --- telling him nothing. His obsession with Hoarders, however grosses me out - plus I see too many similarities emerging, so I make sure to voice how sad and gross that show is each and every time he turns it on.
ReplyDeleteI vacillate between letting the gray show in my hair to feeling like I am too young to have so much gray in my hair. Kid at gym told me in the same conversation that I looked younger than my 17 year old son, but as old as her 64 year old grandmother. I'm so confused!
Nancy, my hair is about 4 colors but all natural, I'm too cheap and lazy to color. I'm going to sing up, just trying to get my cats lined up.
ReplyDeleteI usually can't find anything to watch when I am able to get a hold of the remote control so I am going back and watching "Star Trek The Next Generation" again from the beginning. Yes, I am a nerd. I have never colored my hair but I was one of those whose hair didn't start to turn grey until I was well into my forties. Not sure why that is. I have three sisters who (if they didn't color) were totally grey much sooner than that in life. Weird! But I am okay with the grey now. After all, it's natural.
ReplyDeleteCute cat, btw
ReplyDeleteI don't like reading magazines either ;)....and I let my hair go completely grey two (?) years ago...it was a long process but I love it...I did recently add some ash colored lowlights to spice it up a bit for job interviews...but I will never color it again. Since my hair was dark like yours I started with blonde highlights...then went to a blond close to grey (so it wouldn't show too much growing in) then I cut it (ick...I hated this part)...but now it is back to shoulder length and grey....I so love it....I wish you the best and hope you stay strong through the icky parts ;)
ReplyDeleteHaven't decided if I can post a blog today or not.
ReplyDeleteI like my grey, it goes so well with my wrinkles! I'm not fooling anyone if I dye my hair.
When I have a haircut, I love to wear my dangle earrings, it is about the only feminine thing about me.
I am seeing more and more silver hair every day, but I cannot care less. ;)
ReplyDeleteDo what pleases you. Happy weekend!
Sorry your book was disappointing! That's the worst feeling. Cute kitty :)
ReplyDeleteI enjoy 5 facts Friday, it's a neat way to see the personal side of the person behind the screen.
ReplyDeleteI have to tell you, in the couple months or so I can't believe how many of the memes I loved so much have gone away. I enjoy your posts sharing these fun facts.
ReplyDeleteIt took me about 5 trys before I finally made it to not coloring my hair...I know it makes me look a bit older than I am (60) almost) but I have gotten over that and I don't think I would ever go back...it is so freeing not to color! Funny about the earrings...I had my heavy silver hoops on the other day and I looked in the mirror and they were pulling my ear lobes way down...ha!..can't have that! so..back to just wearing my little diamond posts. The best Nora E. book was Something about the Neck...(or something like that)..it cracked me up. I heard about a book the other day...I think it was The Beauty Experience (or maybe Experiment?..ha!)...anyway about a woman who did nothing to enhance her appearance for a year...no makeup..no jewelry...
ReplyDeleteMy gray is coming in fast and i've decided to just let it happen. (But i'll see what happens when i'm actually ALL gray, lol.) And when my husband came home from work last night i was watching Entertainment Tonight. Kind of an airheady show, i usually think. I hadn't watched in years, and he asked me if someone had held a gun to my head. :) No, but i prefer History Channel... I love this post Nancy! Fun and perfect for Friday!
ReplyDeletei used to read magazines-not anymore.
ReplyDeletei like to wear earrings but only when dressing up.
wonderful post. loved it!
Welcome to the grey/white group..You will love the freedom...
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful weekend...
I like reading things like this; I haven't had earrings in in over a year...I leave them out one night, and I have to have my husband push them through the back.
ReplyDeleteAlso, haven't had my hair high-lighted in over a year...I think about it but it don't last long enough to warrant paying for it.
Whenever I wear gray, several people will ask me if I'm feeling okay - soooo I'm a little afraid of wearing gray hair everyday. Otherwise, I think I'd go for it! Sorry about the book. There are so many books I want to read, that when I spend time on one I don't enjoy, I kind of want the time back. Oh well, such is life. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI quit wearing nose ring and the hole closed too. Lovely post, nice to know about you. Have a wonderful weekend Nancy :)
ReplyDeleteI love kitty's photo! You are brave for not coloring your hair. I've been coloring mine for over 20 years as I started to get grey hair at the age of 25! Not quite ready to give it up yet! Haha!
ReplyDeletexo Catherine
Great shot. I won't do a post but I will give mine to you here.
ReplyDelete1. I love magazines, mostly design ones.
2. My patience is growing shorter as I get older.
3. I have become hooked on the strangest shows lately, Dexter is the most recent.
4. I laugh that I hated school when I was younger but love it now.
5. I am craving an orange but hate peeling oranges so I don't eat them.
I love posts like this. Fun, random facts make me smile. I don't wear earrings all the time, sometimes not for a long time... makes me hope mine don't close up!! :)
ReplyDeleteI made a post on my site.. 5 facts for Friday. This is a good idea, and i had fun doing it. I'm glad you don't mind if others try it! :)
ReplyDeleteHaving my mop colored on Sunday. If I ever go gray, I think I'll have it all colored at once instead of letting it grow out. My gray is horrible so when I do decide to take the plunge, I'm going to need as much help as possible. Did that kitty pose for you? Sure looks it! Nice!
ReplyDeleteNo earrings here, either.. I don't think I've gotten them in for over a decade, and it hurt!
ReplyDeleteMy Five Facts also include hair color, but regarding my youngest two kids - we colored their hair purple this week for school spirit! Something I never thought I'd be doing. :)

I love this picture!
ReplyDeleteNancy, I really like getting to know you better through your 5 things. I went gray at 50, but it's not for everyone. I was sick of coloring my short hair which showed roots in about 3 weeks. My Mom's family grays young, and I was totally gray by late 30's, so definitely dyed for awhile!
ReplyDeleteI have never colored my hair but since it's so light, the white at my temples barely shows up. I actually kind of like it. ;)
ReplyDeleteI do like reading magazines, the short articles are perfect in the bathroom!! LOL!!
