I have no particular reason to post this photo of my Buck at 6 weeks.
I have no particular reason why I searched my Flickr photos this morning
for this photo of my Buck.
I only know that it epitomizes who he is -- now -- my Buck at 5 years.
He is still that sweet puppy on the deck -- wondering what the world is all about.
He is my love. My friend. My shadow.
We picked him. He picked us.
Check that -- he picked me.
I can't imagine my life right now without him.

ReplyDeleteHow utterly adorable1! We had one many years ago. We never could get another. You cannot rplace your grandmother or your child. Recently I have inherited a friend from an old lady. No, not a shepherd but very loyal.

ReplyDeleteBuck is a gorgeous dog. Fun to go back and look at the puppy. All puppies are cute. My brother says they're made that way intentionally. Otherwise you'd never put yourself through all the work. But it's worth it on the other side.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie! He has grown into a very handsome boy.
ReplyDeleteWasn't he just the cutest - and now the handsomist!

ReplyDeleteThey are always so precious as a baby...I always say...why do they have to grow up☺ But he is a very handsome boy!
ReplyDeleteYou don't need a reason to do that...

ReplyDeleteoh nancy, i want a puppy, i really want a puppy!! but i like my freedom, i think i am a lil selfish since the boys are gone.
ReplyDeletethese are bautiful and i really loved reading about your "love" story!! you were made for each other!!
There is nothing cuter or sweeter than a German Shepherd puppy! We've had GS's in our family from the time I was a youngster until just a few years ago. I miss them. Buck has grown into a real handsome fella! Neat story!
ReplyDeleteWho needs a reason? He's adorable!
ReplyDeleteThey are always puppies in our hearts :)
ReplyDeleteOh, what a little sweetie pie! Thanks for the morning cuteness :)
ReplyDeletePuppy cuteness has been our Molliedog's saving grace for the last 13 years!! She is a Queensland Heeler and she has been a handful from day one but so worth it. I want a German Shepherd for my next dog so bad!! My husband says they are too big and it might be him or a GS ...I asked him if I could get back to him on that in a couple of days...ha!
ReplyDeleteOh sooooo cute I know why you posted it and I certainly know why he picked you:) Hug B
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful dog! I guess I hadn't thought about Buck being a member of your family since he was just few weeks old. The "adult" portrait is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteTrue love for both of you...so sweet~
ReplyDeleteSo sweet, Nancy! How they change our lives.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute puppy! I don't blame you for picking him!
ReplyDeletesweet boy; then and now.
ReplyDeleteThe reason is because you love him. I can't imagine a life without mine, either.
ReplyDeleteI love both photos! He is adorable!
ReplyDeleteBuck is a beautiful dog! I love his baby picture and can see why you fell for him. One of our son's dog is named Buckley and he gets called Buck most of the time. He's part black lab and border collie and is such a sweet boy.
ReplyDeleteAwe, he's a cutie pie! Funny, I was going through my old photos and saw some of Sadie when we first got her.
ReplyDeleteThat cute pup has turned into quite the handsome fellow.
ReplyDeleteHow strange. My husband e-mailed me photos of our Ella at 8 weeks. She is now 3. Guess today was puppy day.
ReplyDeleteHe was soooooo cute and now he's soooooo handsome! Actually he looks regal!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. He was cutie then and a handsome guy now.
ReplyDeleteAin't that the truth - dogs grow on you till you're inseparable. Handsome fellow - then AND now ! Great to be able to go back and see what they looked like starting out.
ReplyDeleteHe was a cutie then and still is
ReplyDeleteI can sure see why you picked him...think I would fall in love with him myself.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great dog then and now ;0)
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous dog -- then and now. I love German Shepards, only had one a long time ago. Now I have two small dogs, but love 'em a lot.
ReplyDeleteNow I know why you searched for this photo of Buck, Nancy. What would we do without our 'buddies' by our side.....
ReplyDeleteWhat a little cutie he was! He grew into a beautiful dog.
ReplyDeleteWe should never need a *reason* to look at baby pictures of our critters or to share them with others! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet boy. I love his eyes, and would love to give him a few big bear hugs.. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a handsome GSD! I hope you took lots of puppy pics when he was little. I only have two pics of my Charlie from when he was a little puppy...we adopted him when he was already 6mo old.
ReplyDeleteVic303
He was a beautiful "baby," and still is!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet boy! And so handsome! I know what you mean. My German Shepherd/Great Dane mix Max picked us 9 years ago, but he's still that sweet little puppy who shadowed me on our walks. I'm so grateful he knew he would find a home with us!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie! I thought you had gotten another dog for a minute haha.
