A Rural Journal: {5 Fact Friday}

Another 5 Fact Friday by yours truly:

(Feel free to post your own version, whenever, and let me know in the comments.
I'd love to learn more about you.)

1. I'm sad that 2 of the 5 Traveling Wilburys are no longer with us.

2. I'm happy that I can still enjoy those 2 amazing voices through the miracle of technology. (I'm old enough to consider a CD as a miracle of technology.)

3. I'm digging checking traps with my better half this week. Photo opportunities abound, such as the above.

4. Speaking of my better half, he knows I watch Spartacus on Starz for the man candy. He watches it for the fight scenes. It's all good.

5. I bought a little chenille mouse for Jack to play with. She decided a piece of bark from the firewood pile was more fun. When will I ever learn?

  9. That is the cutest pet toy! Just like kids though hundreds of real toys and they play with the colander!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I know what you mean about the dog toys....our Doxie tries to drag in sticks bigger than him to chomp on rather than his chew toys. I love some 'man candy' every now and then :)

    ReplyDelete
  11. So cute! I love the first pic, too! I am visiting from StudioJRU today.

    ReplyDelete
  12. LOL over Spartacus. Glad you're having fun checking traps!

    ReplyDelete
  13. oh I love me some Spartacus too! Although - this year is proving to not be my favorite season!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Love the photos :) I miss having cows, but always fun to see a photo of them. Man candy ;-) Haven't watched anything like that in quite some time, lol...Valentine's day maybe?!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Fun post! I've never seen Spartacus but it looks like something my husband would LOVE. And all the man candy might make it fun for me to watch as well ;)

    ReplyDelete
  16. We also buy our cats toys and they prefer the things that aren't toys! Coming over from studioJRU

    ReplyDelete
  17. no, you won't, and that's okay, because we all do it. On your next Friday, you need to post the fact, that you like to change your blog layout bi-monthly :) Happy Friday!

  18. So fun! I love this 5 Fact Friday. I decided to give it a try myself. =)

I love that picture of the cows. It's such a neat contrast, especially with the snow in places on the ground.

And our cats seem to prefer non-conventional toys, too! I posted about that as one of my facts, also!

  19. These two dogs of ours have never liked toys. No fetch, nothing like that. Zoey just likes sticks, that's all.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Love the cows! Popping over from Studio JRU, nice to meet you. :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Our cats could care less about toys. But...a piece of string. Poppy's most favorite thing in the world. And what is there about the little Christmas tree ornament made of olive wood? It continually got stolen from the tree and yes...they all love rubbing their faces on it and loving it every day...way past Christmas....it's no longer and ornament.

  22. fun post. CDs are technology for me too! LOL! Here from Studio JRU.

  23. LOL...I love the Traveling Wilburys...I can outdate you...I have them on cassette tape. Gotta go on Itunes and download them on my IPod. Thanks for mentioning them. Love your cattle shot too!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Great shot! I have never heard of the Traveling Wilburys, and I've never seen Spartacus. I might be a bit out of touch.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Regardless, that is one cute mouse! Love the cows!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I am old enough then to consider blogging is a new fashion to me.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I used to enjoy 5 fact Friday, too. I'm a sucker for shots of cows, and I love the openness of this scene. What? CD's aren't a miracle of technology? ;-)

  28. love that sweet, simple kitten. :)

and love the fence photo. :)

  29. Nancy I LOVE to read your 5 Fact Friday! I would like to do it at my blog. If I have time I am going to do it today. If not, I will try next week. I think it is a great Friday post!! That chenille mouse snap cracks me up.. :)

  30. Lovely rural scene.
The toys I buy for the cats get little play. But Orestes has been dragging the same piece of string around for three and a half years now. It gets lost occasionally, but he always manages to find it.

  31. I actually love that little chenille mouse!

    ReplyDelete
  32. What a great idea...5 fact Fridays.....I really enjoy reading yours and getting to know you better.....yes babies had rather play with pots than expensive toys and cats and dogs had rather play with feathers and sticks than expensive toys...go figure...I think that should tell us something....

    ReplyDelete
  33. cute mouse, and such a beautiful photo of the cows.
    lovely landscape too.

    xx

    ReplyDelete
  34. Love that scene. Our kitty has one favorite yellow birdie that he carries to us as a present. It's been replaced several times!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'm enjoying your 5 Fact Friday posts! That's funny about Jack and the piece of wood. We never do learn do we? LOL!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. It is fun to learn more about each other. Thanks for sharing your five.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oh, I have bought that very same mouse, and it did not stay in one piece for long! But one of our cats prefers to play with shadows that we make for her with our hands. Cheap entertainment!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Your pictures are great! And love that you watch Spartacus for the man candy :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. I missed it. But loved the original with Kirk Douglas and Jean Simmons. Now there was a babe to defeat the Romans for....:)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Mmmm man candy! I am all for that. I watch the SYFY series Haven for that reason. 'Duke' and 'Nathan' are hot! lol. And i love little chenille mousie, even though Jack doesn't. How soft.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Just found your blog. Thanks for the links to all of those blog hops.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Pet toys, out kitties prefer paper sacks to store toys...

    ReplyDelete
  45. Love this post!

I like the eye candy myself, I wouldn't be able to do anything with them if they were close up (fairly sure they would run) When I see it on the tv, I mention their whatever to DH. LOL! Then we watch various women and I tell him what's really going on under there and laugh - good fun!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Lots of fun. I went to the Fabulous Thunderbirds Wednesday in Omaha. Good tunes for a vintage sound.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Glad you are having fun checking traps with your hubby and coming up with these great photos!

  50. Just like Christmas when the kids play with the boxes instead of the toys.

    ReplyDelete
  51. My eyes are resting in the field, the skies, the cows ... Beautiful and serene! I smiled when reading the Jack preferred the wood ... Indeed - when will we ever learn :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. That first photo is amazing! No wonder you enjoy being out there. The second one of the toy and the piece of wood made me chuckle. :)
