This privately-owned one-room schoolhouse is located on the far northwest corner of a farm field, a couple of miles away from our farm in Washington County, Nebraska.
The inside has been stripped of any valuables
and the tall window frames lost their glass many years ago.
How nice it would be to see it updated to its former glory,
yet I don't believe whomever owns it is
contemplating a restoration job anytime soon.
I hope this little schoolhouse
appreciates being dressed-up with a few
photo edits.

Gorgeous picture! Love the edit!
ReplyDeleteHow neat! Do you know the history behind it and when it was built?
ReplyDeleteSadly, I don't have any information on it, although I did try to find some.
DeleteBeautiful picture you show Nancy. Thanks for the comment on my blog. Wish you a good Sunday :) Hanne Bente
ReplyDeleteGreat work ♥
ReplyDeleteI love that! Up on I-84 going into Twin Falls, Idaho there was always an old school off of the side of the highway. I always wanted to stop there but it was on private land and you had to climb a fence. The last time I ever went there I noticed it was not there anymore. Sad.
ReplyDeleteFantastic photos and texture! I'm visiting from Vicki's Grow Your Blog Party and hope you will stop by for a visit. Thank you for sharing your lovely photo with us.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the texture on that photo~~~
ReplyDeleteAnd what a great place to do photo shoots with people! Families, a wedding couple! A senior portrait...
Around here they have restored many of the one room school houses, we have one right up the road from This Old House.
What a nice piece of history- and love your editing!

ReplyDeletePerfectly simple and stunning photo. Loved this . . .
ReplyDeleteLOVE this! Love your dress ups too!
ReplyDeleteYes, unfortunately so many buildings across our country have and will fall to neglect. It would be nice if they could at least take this building down, save, and recycle the wood. It would be lovely in someone's home or in a commercial building.
ReplyDeletelove old schoolhouses :) Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletethis is really gorgeous.....

I love the dress-up you chose. It's very charming and I could see it on a card.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning, Nancy,
ReplyDeleteYou dressed it up well. It would be nice if people could restore it. Think what a lovely antique shop that could be. I went to two one room schools in my elementary years, and wouldn't mind one in my side yard. :D
love it!
ReplyDeleteWoW nancy, it's beautiful!! the edits are fabulous but i long to see it sooc.....

This is a wonderful photo...you did a great job...it looks like a painting! I would love to see the inside - as bare as it might be.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful all dressed up. I wish someone would restore it. There are so many things it could be used for.
ReplyDeleteThere are a couple of little one room school houses by me that people have fixed up. I don't know if they are living in them or using it for other means since there is an adjoining house. They are so attractive.
ReplyDeleteSplendid! You do great work. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a cool edit! I love old schoolhouses.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI don't think this little house will ever look as good as it does in your picture.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it strange to think that children used to learn there. Such a difference to the schools of today.
ReplyDeleteWe all like a make-over, Nancy. You've saved it from oblivion - it reaches for fame on your blog.
ReplyDeleteFantastic photo! What a great old building!
ReplyDeleteActually, it seems to be in pretty good shape, considering its age. "Nice bones!" Great edit, Nancy!
ReplyDeleteYou did a beautiful job of dressing this fine, old building.
ReplyDeleteNice capture and edit, Nancy! I love old school houses and wonder what stories they hold.
ReplyDeleteWonderful edits on a great subject.....
ReplyDeleteI love this photo, Nancy. It looks like a painting. And I'm glad that you can 'virtually' fix it up. How sad that it's being left to the elements and will one day crumble to the ground.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot!
ReplyDeleteNancy, when I was about 5 years old, my Aunt Esther's next door neighbor took me to school for show and tell. I was the city girl come to visit and the school was one room for grades one through six. There was a pot bellied stove, huge blackboard and the older children helped the younger children. I remember an outside hand pump for water and the way the teacher allowed me to sit in her classroom and "go to school"; it was a fine learning experience!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the return of some very good memories.
Great old structure!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! :)
