My youngest son came over last week to help with the fallen leaves.
I hadn't really done much with them until today. My bad.
I scooped them around the flagpole where the mums and iris are planted to provide some insulation during the winter months (if winter ever shows up!) Sioux supervised my activity.
A wind chime under the flagpole area -- I just love wind chimes, don't you?
I thought of my dad, a WWII vet, as I gazed up at our flag.
I love you, Dad. Happy Veteran's Day.

Good chewing sticks are at a premium around here. They cannot be pine, as pine just crackles effortlessly -- mulberry or maple are the preferred treat!
Sioux has found a decent "sticky" with which to play.
Some critters are not interested in the Autumn cleanup. Jack takes a snooze in the rocker while we bust our butts outdoors.

Hi! Is it hard work to collect autumn leaves?
ReplyDeleteI have never thought about that.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
Just ran across your blog...your dogs are just gorgeous! and you take wonderful pictures..thank you for sharing, Blessings from http://fourfarming.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda like Jack. :) Great shots, Nancy!
ReplyDeleteIt finally got cold here last night, down to 28, with a clear sky to start the day. Enjoy your day and good luck finding those stickys.
ReplyDeleteLove your critters Sioux and Jack! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, must find the perfect stick, and then how exciting when you do! hehehe My Tag would be trying to help, Molly would be looking for a ball, and Maggie May would be the one running around with a stick.
ReplyDeleteOh my dog is a stick lover too. She won't play with balls but LOVES her sticks. I don't know which picture is my favorite. I like the wind chime, ut they are all lovely.
ReplyDeleteGREAT captures of dogs and sweet cat. Loving all.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Jack on the whole leaf clean-up. I'm doing good to keep up with cleaning the indoors space; and fortunately our three big trees out back don't drop their leaves until Spring - weird, but true. The dogwood out front, on the other hand, makes up for it. Then there are the constant onslaught of leaves blowing in from the golf course ... yea, I'm with Jack on this one.
ReplyDeletei mow them when they start and keep doing it every couple days tomake a nice mulch for yard and garden
ReplyDeleteLovely photos of everyday activities.
ReplyDeleteI'd be in the chair with the cat :)
Thanks, too, for the camera drawings download offer...
excellent...love these.
A lovely post and great photos!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your photos. So happy you mentioned your dad. My daughters school put on a Veterans Day breakfast and program for the Veteran's yesterday. I thought it was so touching.
ReplyDeleteLove the images, especially the ones of your furry friends. You've reminded me we need to get onto our leaves (groan).
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! Love the cat one, it makes me smile! :)
ReplyDeletehugs, april
LOVE your dog out having a good time. He looks just like a shephard that I had who died several years ago. They are such awesome dogs!
ReplyDeletePets seems to make even a work day fun...thanks for sharing the photos (love!) of your leaf raking time. Made me smile...blessings!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful series of shots Nancy!
ReplyDeleteBefore I sat down at the computer I was looking at all the leaves outside. We're having temps near 70today so it might be good to get out there.
Love your flag shot! Sioux and his big stick made me smile.
love those helpful pups, but adore that snoozing kitty cat.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photography and comment. You've captured for me a feeling of fall.
ReplyDeleteLovely : )
ReplyDeleteYa, I'm more like Jack when it comes to yard work! A terrific series of shots, I really like the soft colours.
ReplyDeleteIt just goes to show how superior cats are to all other creatures. Your dogs are just gorgeous! And I am a wind chime lover too.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos! I like your flag pole!
ReplyDeletei have some more leaves for you! lol :) happy sunday!
ReplyDeleteOh I love this well except for the working part. Sioux is looking good. Thank you to your Dad and all others in both countries. Love all these shots. xo B
ReplyDeleteYour pups and cat are adorable!

ReplyDeletestill some fall to take the advantage of!Blog about life and travelling
ReplyDeleteBlog about cooking
I love your shot of the wind chimes and the joy you captured on your dog's face. God bless your dad and his service to our country.
ReplyDeleteDH did all but a little of the leaf-raking this year. We had our two old maple trees pruned way down during last winter, so they didn't produce the deep layer of leaves as they usually do! Love the dog photos, as always.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Jack! (Though Sioux does look pretty happy.)
ReplyDeleteOur leaves have just started falling... Great shots
ReplyDeleteYour dogs look like they're having a great time with the stick while you work on those leaves!
ReplyDeleteI love wind chimes too, sadly I don't have any. I thought of my dad as well today, we've been at a Veteran's Day parade, and seeing the veteran's made me happy and sad.
ReplyDeleteAutumn leaves are really nice to look at but a real pain to clear up aren't they?
ReplyDeleteI love wind chimes too but our broke recently I'll maybe have to think of getting a new one.
I think your Jack has the right idea :))
I think Jack has the right idea!
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy!! I love windchimes and the fall, but raking is something we've stopped doing here in the country, so all the leaves are safe in our yard! :-) I hope you're doing well, and are enjoying the weekend!
ReplyDeleteyes! I agree, wind chimes are marvelous.
ReplyDeleteI teach on Saturday Mornings - today (Saturday) - is a PERFECT DAY here - and, it was challenging to stay, seated, learning in one spot. I took the class to the resource room, because teachers had been given lovely snacks . . so, each chose something they wanted and we went for a stroll. The entire class stopped to notice a tree covered with brilliant red leaves . . they hadn't noticed it before - which makes perfect sense, it was a gift for today . . all the other days, the leaves were green - today, on a perfect day, maybe just for them, the leaves were stunning. They weren't on the ground, yet - it's supposed to storm tomorrow, so - the next time they see "their tree" - it will be bare . . . such pure joy in the world . . don't you think??
love & love,
-g-

ReplyDeleteWe lived on a property for years with over 40 oak trees - all we did from October until the first snowfall was rake leaves!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos of your place. Have a nice Sunday, Nancy.
