A brief recap on this past week --
I love Cardinals. But there is one specific Cardinal that
is a pain in my ass this week.
Remember this post last week, where I stated he was
enamored with his own reflection?
Seems he thinks it's an interloper, determined to
steal his harem of female cardinals (of which he has none, because he's too
busy "fighting" his reflection, minute by minute,
hour by hour.)
We've tried all sorts of barriers...
bed sheets, towels, twine strings, printouts of my hubby's face (no lie,)
even an owl decoy... but all have failed.
It's not only annoying, he's scaring away the hummers.
Get over it already!

ReplyDeleteThis particular Fleet Week will always be the one "Remember when..." for your son. And that last shot of the gosling made me laugh out loud. Maybe you can put a photo of a bigger, badder cardinal on the window so the little guy knows he better move on.
ReplyDeleteWhile I'm not a fan of the cucumber beetles, that is a neat pic! I always get a kick out of the bird shots when they're looking directly at the camera. How fun for your son and have a great Memorial Day Weekend:@)

I've read about a male cardinal doing that very same thing.... I had a robin attack its reflection in one of my windows, but it didn't last longer than a day. I would have thought the owl decoy would do the trick! The geese look like ceramic figures in that first image! Wonderful detail in their feathers.
ReplyDeleteThe cardinal cracks me up. Have a great holiday weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great selection of pictures. Your wee gosling is oh so cute. I just love the shot of him looking at you.

Congrats to your son. What a cool photo opp! Tell him how much we appreciate his service!!!
We had a Cardinal who drove us nuts on one particular window. We finally taped pieces of "curling" ribbon on the window that blew in the breeze to scare him away.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great photo and opportunity for your son!
Love your other photos from the drive into town, too.
Hope you have a safe and enjoyable weekend.
We have a good many Cardinals - fortunately none so vain as to bash the window (Am. Bluejay pulled that one summer, drove me crazy). How cool for your son to meet the movie starts (looks like a cute movie). Happy Memorial Weekend.
