Rural Thursday Blog Hop #17: DIY Decorative Garden Pick

On Mother's Day, my sister surprised me with a new garden pick. And, she made it herself -- which is surprising and endearing, because she's never been much of a crafter.

To cut to the chase -- here's what she did:

Chose a small ceramic elf figurine with a hole in the bottom.

Inserted an aluminum knitting needle through the hole, and made sure the top of the needle was positioned all the way to the top of the inside of the figurine.

Glue the knitting needle, using a strong epoxy or glue, around the inside of the hole and let dry thoroughly.

Isn't it cute and what a great idea! Thank you sissy!

  1. What a great idea to use a knitting needle! I've done it with floral stakes, but they get soft and eventually break. Yours should hold up much better!

  26. What a cute little guy -- it would make me smile to come across him as I weeded a flower bed (I'm remembering a long time ago, when I used to actually have flower beds.) I'm not crafty either, but I could follow those directions and might make one for our daughter when we're back in Oregon visiting her (and her garden).
