I bought another orchid.
Our local grocery store had a display for Mother's Day and I couldn't resist.
There were so many different colors from which to choose, but I picked the yellow.
Now, I have an orchid in each of my kitchen windows, surrounded by some of my
favorite knick-knacks.
I mean, a girl's gotta have something to look at while she's washing the dishes, right?
I'm easily entertained.

ReplyDeleteSo very pretty! I've got a hankerin' to pretty up my kitchen and will be working on that this afternoon and this weekend.
ReplyDeleteAfter all, if we're gonna be working somewhere we might as well make it pretty!
I agree completely! How could a girl even resist such beauties!
ReplyDeletexo Catherine
Now you can smile while washing! Have a great day and weekend
ReplyDeleteYou need to have it...for goodness sake! You just go out and get yourself another...don't skimp after all you are the centre of your home and thus your needs should be pandered to...go do it girl! Joan
ReplyDeleteNot guilty. They are so pretty. Have too many myself, but can't get them to bloom again.
ReplyDeleteNo need to feel guilty, we need pretty flowers in our life :)
ReplyDeleteNancy, they are beautiful and you've put them in a perfect place. They need a lot of humidity to keep them healthy and well.
ReplyDeleteYou go girl! You deserve flowers everyday!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I like that explanation! :-)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty against the light filtering in from the window. Of course a girl needs pretty in her life- especially while washing the dishes.
ReplyDeleteI am sure flowers are here to provide us with much-needed eye candy in a busy world! And what better place than the windowsill above your sink! Lovely with the light on them!
ReplyDeletewish I could keep one alive
ReplyDeleteAn orchid is a good choice.

Such a cool, shadowy photo.
ReplyDeleteI think you've got the right idea, looking at beautiful flowers while washing the dishes!
Gorgeous orchids!
ReplyDeleteFantastic photography and beautiful texture! It is a pleasure to visit your site.
Enjoy your flowers.
Hope to see you on my blog:)
While a girl is looking at flowers, I need to think of something for me to look at while I am washing the dishes.
ReplyDeleteYes, I always, and am happy to wash dishes, though I am a "boy".
absolutely.
ReplyDeleteI've never brought home orchids because they look hard to "keep". Let me know what you find...
I definitely wouldn't mind looking at these beautiful orchids while washing dishes, or anything else for that matter! heheheee =)
ReplyDeleteMe too! I bought some pink ranunculus and enjoyed my date with them on my front porch this week!! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteOur next home MUST have a window above the kitchen sink.. requirement!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been by in a while, but I like your blog makeover - I have been being enticed by orchids myself lately...but haven't plunged in yet - not sure I could keep one alive! LOL, but yours do look stunning - and they look like great photographs waiting to happen!! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteWho can resist orchids?! There is something very special and exotic about them... they can even look downright haughty sometimes!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
nancy's addictions: orchids and changing her blog header. :)
ReplyDeletei dont have an orchid. now i want one!
ReplyDeleteI love the intimacy of this picture. The yellow is a beautiful color. I go by the orchids at the grocery store (especially when they have the blue ones) and just swoon. My husband shops with me and we're doing the coupon thing. He always says "sure, get one if you have a coupon." darn! One day one is going to have to sneak into the cart - and I'll pea the 5th.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot! And while you're at it, go ahead and plead guilty to Altering Blog Template 1st Degree and we'll merge the charges. Get you a reduced sentence. ;-) Looks nice!
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful~a great sight while doing dishes.
ReplyDeleteWe have orchids all over the place at work, so I'm a little dull to their beauty, but makes me appreciate the little, garden fresh flowers everyday!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your newest addition! :-)
ReplyDeleteSo very pretty. The photo would also make a great desktop pic.
ReplyDelete"Orchids are a working girl's diamonds." I just made that up, but it sounds good so I think I'll keep it. . .
ReplyDeleteI say go for it girlfriend..put one in every window if that makes you happy......They are beautiful...
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you love your flowers, they are almost as good as the birds! Both things of very well together. Do you eBird? you could do the birds a great help living out where you do. What kind of thrush came to your feeder? Oh, and I love the old gray barn below in another post.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy them well, can you ever have enough?
ReplyDeleteI love orchids too, I think I'm jealous right now, hahahah...
ReplyDeleteThat guilt looks mighty nice on the windowsill!
ReplyDeleteThey are verry beautiful darling...have a nice weekend...love Ria...xxx..
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Nancy, I have been eyeing up the purple ones at my Garden Center. They are much cheaper then kids and a lot prettier then my two sons!!!
ReplyDeleteVery Pretty Nancy, happy mother's day.
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed with your orchids. I have one that bloomed once in the 2+ years I've had it. It's now on its way out and I guess I'll have to wait another 2 years. Hmmmm, maybe it needs a mate?
ReplyDeleteSounds great to me - and they are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend!
Eva
Hi Nancy, so true. Beautiful flowers in a kitchen windowsill helps to make the task much more joyful. I have flowers in my windowsill, but have never bought an Orchid. Always thought they would be difficult to stay alive. Enjoy and Happy Mothers Day!
ReplyDeleteNow a new follower.
Hugs,
Jann
What a great choice! I wish I had even ONE good-sized kitchen window. If so, I would have orchids, too.
ReplyDeleteNancy, I purchased an orchid from the grocery store last year for my kitchen window and enjoyed it thoroughly. Every week I placed a cube of ice on the dirt and it lived a very long time. So easy and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, orchids are lovely flowers and their perfume is something else.
ReplyDeleteThere has to be some benefit to washing dishes. :)
Haha.....oh you're easy if the display got you that fast. LOL. It's beautiful. :-) Happy Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteYAY!! You go girl!! I am glad you couldn't resist!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a really healthy one too! Enjoy your Mother's Day and your orchids!! May they give you much pleasure, both visual and "scentual" (if that wasn't a real word, it is now!)
Kudos! I've never had good luck with them.. to finicky for my window I guess!
ReplyDeleteI have one in my kitchen window too. They are very hard to resist.

ReplyDeletewhy, yellow is my favorite color, and how can you look at yellow flowers and NOT smile
ReplyDeleteMy daughter has an orchid.
ReplyDeleteIt has bloomed a couple of times.
And now it's in my care :)
This new yellow one of yours though...
my, that's a gorgeous color.
I have several that I've been able to keep alive. I've found that the ones with rounded leaves take less care than the ones with pointy leaves.
ReplyDeleteHow can a girl resist! xx
ReplyDeleteI like your orchids and post arrangement on the right . . .
ReplyDeleteThey're beautiful, but they look so fragile. I'd be afraid to have one.
ReplyDeleteI like the window blind background... makes for an interesting photo!
ReplyDeletelove the idea of a orchid watching me do dishes....your photo..is stunning..
ReplyDeleteI am terrified or orchids....I totallly know that I'd kill them and spend hours feeling pissed that I spent that much money on a flower :)
ReplyDeleteLovely. And, yes, you do deserve the present. A tiny little pinch of sugar in the water, from time to time, will do them good. Did you know that?
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! I bought a valence, go me!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing on Foto Friday,
Lori
I looked at the beautiful orchids in the grocery store yesterday but fought down the urge! ;~)
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful dish washing view!! :)
ReplyDeleteHey Nancy, I'll do your dishes every day if you keep these beautiful orchids there!! Lovely photo!
ReplyDeleteI love orchids, but have always been afraid I would kill them.
ReplyDeleteThis post caught my eye. I love orchids and lately have been loving doing my dishes in my new kitchen. Thanks Nancy for all your support. Enjoy your view.
