Another northern Washington County, Nebraska barn -- photo taken from the road as this farm is set back into the property a ways, as many of our farms are.
The farmers are getting their land ready for planting right now -- tilling and applying anhydrous ammonia for added nitrogen.
Sooner than later, the big tractors and planters will criss-cross the acres and acres of waiting and warming soil, depositing corn or soybeans for this year's crops.
May is a very busy time for our area farmers.

I have a special fondness for barns. Takes me back to the times I spent at my grandparent's.
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful barn!
ReplyDeletei like the shape of that barn roof.
have a great week ahead!
xo
So pretty! The biggest farms I have seen are our potato farms in Northern Maine. Most of the farms around us are much smaller, it would be interesting to see all that equipment planting all those acres...
ReplyDeleteI like your barn series!
ReplyDeleteIt's still not very green there...

Fine and bright photo, excellent.
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely clean looking farm...now it may not look that way up close and in person but it is quite magnificent...
ReplyDeleteWhat I like about rurals is that they are always serene. People learn to understand the beauty of silence where the music of nature is behind.
ReplyDeleteI like barns, and I don't know why. I just like how they look like and where they are situated :)
Even just a glimpse of a barn and I am transported to my childhood growing up in the country. How I miss those days and that life! This is a nice barn - good red!
ReplyDelete...a lovely setting and a beautiful barn
ReplyDeleteWonderful barn. I love rooflines like that.
ReplyDeleteI love the red barns you find - something about the slanted roof! And can you say anhydrous ammonia 4x fast (-:
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the look of Iowa Farms where I lived for a few years. Love the blue sky too . . .
ReplyDeleteI think our local farmers have just about finished planting, It's mostly corn and soybeans around here.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
Love that farmstead... the trees are greening up too. I recall driving across NE and IA and being amazing at the never ending fields of corn...!
ReplyDeleteI really like the architecture of this barn. And the asymmetric roofline.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful barn I have ever seen so far.
ReplyDeletegreat capture!
ReplyDeletelove the preparation for planting, soil always looks so rich!

ReplyDeleteI love barns!! I grew up on a farm with a big barn and we loved playing up in the hay loft!
ReplyDeleteI love the smell of freshly overturned earth ... and can remember as a kid walking behind my dad's plow and feeling the warm dark soil ooze between my toes.
ReplyDeleteNice barn! I planted my corn last week. When in Nebraska...
ReplyDeleteLove this barn. Wish we had more around us!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing this time of year in the lives of farmers, the freshly tilled earth just waiting for planting.
ReplyDeletelovely pic and I enjoy the info such as the applying of
ReplyDeleteanhydrous ammonia...helps to know the area
Nice barn shot! I imagine that it is very busy in those parts these days.
ReplyDeleteFarmers are getting antsy here. Another 1.5 inches of rain over the weekend, at least they quit complaining about drought!! Pretty barn nice to see they covered the roof so it will last another 100 years!!
ReplyDeleteThings have been really busy here. I'm certainly ready for my corn to be in the ground. Great barn.
ReplyDeleteLove the roof on this barn Nancy! And the star below the three windows and just above the door~sweet! Round bales add to the charm :)
ReplyDeleteOur barns and fields are mixed with scattered housing. The best known farmer here produces organic vegetables in multiple fields he leases. He grows everything from field greens to beets. We have less of those warm weather crops, though I have even seen corn.
ReplyDeleteI love photographs of barns. How beautiful. I just found your blog! So excited to start reading.
ReplyDeleteLove this barn. I hope you revisit when the field is in full growth and you can just see the top of the barn. And love the wren photos AND your comments!
ReplyDeletegreat shot!!!

ReplyDeleteYou guys in the Midwest have the GREATEST barns!! (sigh)
ReplyDeleteHow I love old buildings. And barns are tops. If only I'd taken photos of all the abandoned barns I saw traveling coast to coast in my early-er days. Dang! :)
ReplyDeleteLove this one too! They are just so fascinating.
ReplyDeleteYep, May is a big time for farms here too!
ReplyDeleteFabulous roof lines...they make the image so interesting. You can see the trees starting to put out their first leaves with the sky peeking through. Looks like there are several barns or other out buildings. genie
ReplyDeletelove the roof slope. such a great shot. (:
ReplyDeleteShe's a beauty. And for once, something could be growing earlier in my parts...corn was planted on the weekend behind us. I think I'd rather have the flowers! : )
ReplyDeleteGreat barn. Love the red, green, and blue of the photo.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scene, Nancy!
ReplyDeleteGreat find, Nancy!
ReplyDeleteI like the barn and the way it juts out to the right - hope they take care of it and give it a coat of paint. sandie

ReplyDeleteAnd years ago...I would be out there pulling weeds in those bean fields in MN. Summer fun money! :)
ReplyDeleteThese pics are the stuff my daydreams are made of. I could spend all day searching the 'net for them...but alas, the bread needs to be baked, children need to be driven to t-ball, and people find it necessary to have lunch. Go figure. :) Thanks for sharing!
