Your Sunday Best #9

Sharing with SOOC Sunday

It was a strange week, but no stranger than most.

For the first time since we moved here, a representative from our farm insurance company stopped by, unannounced, to take some pictures of the house and outbuildings. He said "they need to be updated."
Uh-huh. Why do I sense a rate increase is being justified?

As soon as he arrived, the indoor dogs went ballistic. Mr. Insurance Man saw them through the big picture window and said, "oh, I see you have two German Shepherds. I'm glad they are inside and not out here." No response from me, but I'm thinking, I bet our policy has a Dangerous Dog clause on it.

Sigh.

Sharing with The Simple Things, Everyday Moments
I was putting away the frozen items I had bought at the grocery store. Trying to make room for a few packages of chicken, I noticed a white plastic grocery bag taking up quite a bit of valuable freezer real estate. It was soft inside and I couldn't recall putting it in there myself. Taking a peek, it was obvious that Shane is using the freezer to store his furs. Looked to be a raccoon. I put it back. : : :

Chirpy Birdy

I also picked up some potassium pills. Since I started my diet, I've been having foot and leg cramps in the evening -- a symptom of low potassium levels.

Obviously, my body is rejecting and rebelling against my healthy, lo-cal food choices.
So I go to bed hungry and crampy. Awesome.

Sharing with Weekly Top Shot

On the bright side, the sun finally broke through today after about a week of spitty rain.
Not complaining mind you -- we needed the rain. But it depresses me after about a day and a half.

Hope you are having a great weekend, doing exactly whatever it is
you love to do.

  1. I couldn't help but smile at the 'dangerous dog" clause. :-)

I wish our house was worth as much as the insurance agent thinks.....

  2. I wish my house/farm was worth as much as the county seems to think. They increased the assessed rate by 30%. I shouldn't complain; a friend had his property assessment increased by more than 60%! As he put it, it's the same ole pile of rocks and dirt it was yesterday; what happened?
BTW, is it Sunday? I thought it was Saturday...am I THAT confused?!

  3. Did you see the movie "Secondhand Lions"? *wink wink*
Every time I have unsolicited insurance, property tax or sales people I always think of those two guys sitting on their porch with shotguns in hand. : )

  4. Should have let the dogs out!!!!
    Wonderful pussy willow.
Thank you for the smile, and for hosting!

  6. Love that shot at the top. Is that pussy-willow???

Re: leg cramps - I have also heard magnesium. But, now I'm putting Potassium on my list too. I had heard about that before, but forgotten. Thanks for the reminder!

    Happy weekend! ~Sally

  8. love the pussy willow photo...I am so longing for a little warmer weather - so envious of the midwest heat! hoping the coming week is filled with happier events!

  9. Yep, county auditor made a random visit here, too.
    But, more importantly...
    ain't Spring grand?

  10. The pussy willow made me want to sneeze! Totally enjoyed your commentary with each pic :-)

  11. ooohhhh i just love the first shot, of the pussy willows.

i would have let the dogs out...whoops!!!

  12. Wonderful photos Nancy. Too bad about the visitor. You might try CALM sometime. It is a magnesium supplement that balances calcium and really does help with leg cramps also.

  13. I usually just cruise through and enJOY the photography, but this time I happened to read what you wrote. Good reads. I shall linger longer and enJOY your thoughtful moments. Just plain funny. thanks for hosting...The 6 before me are great!

  14. Funny how some photographers are kindred spirits. . .and some you'd be happy to scare away with the dogs. I kind of agree with the "Secondhand Lions" comment, 'cept I don't think it would work with a camera-packin' auditor.

  15. I love the willow shot Nancy...shame the dogs were in :))

  19. Oh, those buds are fabulous, Nancy. Love that color! Your focus is spot on! Darned cute narrative about a variety of things, too.

  20. Awesome photos Nancy you made me laugh with the insurance guy.:)
Hey I had terrible cramps and started drinking peppermint tea did you know it is very high in potassium? It worked great for me, just a thought. B

  21. Pussy willows are one of my favorites, love 'em and enjoy all of your beautiful, heartfelt photography . . .

  22. My pick is that red on Chirpy. You could also try a calcium/magnesium combo before bed - the magnesium is a relaxant an the calcium may help with cramps. I stir a teaspoon full into water and drink it (not a good taste but bearable) - good for your bones, too.

  23. You should have let your dog out .. just saying. ha. Sorry to hear that and the news of your low poss.
    Drink lots of water also.
    Stress will do it too.
Love your images . Beautiful. Nice blog again.

  24. I love the detail in the first shot.

  26. Awesome photos! I love Chirpy Birdy! LOL! Too bad the dogs weren't outside. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Wonderful shots, and a bit of sun is also nice here.

  28. I'm so glad my boys are not hunters. Matt is a fisherman who doesn't like fish--catch and release. I'd hate to find furs in my freezer. I hope you feel better and your pills work. Love your bird.

  29. Nancy- spring is a good time for diet but on the other hand the lack of vitamins after winter...

  30. oh insurance is such a racket! Such lovely photos, my kids want chickens so badly! We will be hatching some chicks again here soon and they are begging to keep them! We shall see - not sure what to do with them when the cold weather hits Chicago!

  31. Love the photo of your chirppy birdie!! That black and white and pop of red!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Beautiful photos.

    Regards and best wishes

  33. Eek! Please tell me there WASN'T a rate increase... I think I might be the only person who has an insurance agent I actually like to see...

    Love Chirpy Birdy's profile.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oh no,hope no rate increase! Good Lord, I am thankfull there is no furry friennd in this girls freezer!!

You pitures always make me simply happy! LOVE the pussy willows!

  35. Going to bed hungry would never work for me - then I just can´t sleep..! :-)

  36. Over from SOOC. Lovely shots.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I also find that lack of fluids will cause my foot and leg cramps...

Anyway, I can so relate to your insurance man story...seems they are just looking for an excuse to raise rates. I had a "dangerous dog" when I had my sweet Kayla, a ginger Chow...she wouldn't hurt a flea, unless you happened to be threatening me, but nevertheless, we had to pay a surcharge because she was on the "list". Perhaps if the insurance man had notified you prior to his "drop-in" visit, the dogs could have been prepared!

  38. I wish our house was worth as much as the city assessor's office thinks!

Your chicken is gorgeous (as is the photo).

    ReplyDelete
  39. What a lovely place to live...and such beautiful captures!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Lovely shots!
Remember to get your vitamins : )
Diets or food alterations or whatever you want to call a change in eating habits need to retain the necessities at the very least, otherwise, stock up on the fresh veggies :D

    ReplyDelete
  41. Those blooming plants are gorgeous! Good luck with the insurance man!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Wow, those photos are exquisite! I love the gate one. I hope the insurance man doesn't send an increase and your cramps go away!

    ReplyDelete
  43. the barely recognizable, out of focus pick up truck in the first pick contrasts nicely with the yellow buds

    ReplyDelete
  44. Lovely photos! Love the fence, well all of them really!

    Thanks for hosting,
    Lori

  45. It's funny. When the insurance people went by the BIL's place (that we are now buying) they looked at the old house and overgrown property and promptly cancelled his policy on the property.

    I hope it's not a big increase.

When there are a lot of disasters, sadly, rates go up. I expect ours to go up after hurricane Irene.

Thanks for sharing all your lovely pictures with us, Nancy. :o)

  46. What type of plant is your SOOC shot today? I love it's texture!

    ReplyDelete
  47. you know how we are fans of rottweilers and have always owned them (maybe you don't know that lol) but we've had to had them once or twice....it's really sad that because of a few, which is due to the owner, they are all deemed "dangerous" when it couldn't be further from the truth, although try to hurt their owner, then they'll show you dangerous!
oh i get foot cramps every night, or at least when i eat well and exercise...they wake me up a couple times a night, it's frustrating...i should get some of those pills. sorry for the novel here!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oh yurk, insurance men...!!! Lovely post, Nancy. So sorry to hear that the diet is giving you some complications (re: cranky) but stay strong!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. my boys just saw chirpy birdie and think he's cool cos he's zebra striped!

    ReplyDelete
  50. "So I go to bed hungry and crampy. Awesome."
I'm sorry, I know that's not *really* funny but it made me laugh!
Around here, one of the questions on a homeowner's policy is do you have a pit bull, if you answer yes, no insurance.
Love all your pictures this Sunday! :)

  51. I just hate diets.. I can't last to look on them. I really do need to start eating better.. Soooo hard!

I just love stopping by and seeing your photos! They look amazing.

    Hugs, Linda

  52. I bet you are correct- a rate hike is coming your way! It's either them or the county folks wanting to know if you have poured a new slab or built a new outbuilding, so they can justify a tax hike.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Beautiful shots. I just love those pussy willows.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Lovely photos, Nancy. Great perspective on the fence and the hen is so pretty.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Lovely ruffled daffodils and those catkins beginning to throw pollen are beautiful (although it makes my nose itch..lol)... Thanks Nancy for coming over and sharing on 'Weekly Top Shot,' :-) I hope you'll come share again next week...

  56. I love your photos :)
Too bad the dogs were in the house LOL

Oh, I hate going to bed with my tummy feeling hungry but I am kind of use to it now. I do hope the potassium pills help with the cramping!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Great shots!! The first time I read through the post I thought you were taking possum pills...I believe I would take the cramps over that! I would agree with you on the gray days...one day is enough!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Such a lovely photo! It seems like there should be a law that insurance people can not show up unannounced. ;)
Hopefully your new diet doesn't continue to give you leg cramps - not fun!
    xo Catherine
