Wednesday was a beautiful day -- in the 50s and sunny with no wind to speak of.
Thursday, it turned nasty -- wet, cold, blustery.
If I ever needed a moment of calm, yesterday was it.
Do you have any idea how muddy it becomes around here with a bit of precipitation?
Mud prints from me and the two dogs tracked everywhere throughout the lower level of the house.
Impossible to keep up with it until it dries out.
Impossible to keep up with it until it dries out.
Breathe in. Breathe out.
A perfect day to create. (What day isn't?)
Anyhoodles, here's a new free texture for you
called Betty.
Link to Download free Betty texture Here
And here's how I arrived at the above daisy image in Pixlr:
Upload base image
Add Betty layer
Decrease Overall Level to 53% (Darken)
Adjust opacity to 98% Screen
Add Duplicate layer of adjusted Betty above @ 25% Screen
Add Duplicate layer Betty (no adjustments) @ 52% Overlay
Erase texture from blooms
Add duplicate base image @ 32% Overlay
Add Watermark
Flatten Image.

Beautiful! Your photo brings calm to me too. Thank you. May your day be peaceful, Nancy.
Beautiful photo!! Thank you for the free texture I love it! I feel your pain with the mud, it hasn't even been rainy here, just lots of dew, and I mopped twice yesterday morning trying to get rid of HUGE MUDDY PAWPRINTS!! AKKK. It helps when I put a big towel in front of the doggy door, but not a lot. :)
I love that late winter calm, before spring moves in - hmm maybe I am ready for spring!
We woke up to white this morning :)
oh what a beautiful flower and texture added! and thanks for the freebie!
it has rained so much here i can see the river when we walk to the back yard, and the river is a good walk through the woods.
A beautiful flower picture, Nancy!
Love this - I´ll make sure I download that texture as soon as I get home! :-)
Amazing pic Nancy! It really infuses calm in me.
Have a wonderful weekend:)
I do some post processing on my images ie: contract, levels, etc., but haven't done much in the way of textures or actions... I guess I need to play some! I'll download some and give it a try! Hope you don't get dumped on by the storm heading into Chicago area...
Yep, I agree with many; your photo brings me calm...needed this morning as I intend to make it that kind of day! Thanks Nancy!
The flower is breathtaking!

Same mud going on at my house.... ahhh, spring must be just around the corner.
Very cool! Will try to play with it later. I created my logo in PE. Maybe it will work in Pixlr :)
Have a wonderful weekend! :)
Very calm indeed! I like the new texture! I can't wait for spring!!
You've outdone yourself with this beauty... i love it & the texture is gorgeous, thank you! =)
so lovely! The weather here was awful yesterday but we woke this morning with such a pretty blanket of fluffy white snow!
Oh it's GORGEOUS! I need to figure out the 'erase' part - I haven't tried that yet.
Hope you have a dry weekend :)
You've done a beautiful job with this photo, but I imagine it was beautiful to start with.
I adore your signature!... can you make me a new one? And then tell me again how to apply it? I have not been able to figure that out again, seems so simple to remember, no? *sigh* I would love an old fashion clipart like the one you used... should I look for one and send it to you? Am I being a pain in the rear?
Beautiful shot, Nancy!
love sweet and simple daisies...
and we have pounds of silt tracked in here all over the tile floor, too...
I really appreciate you letting us know *how* you end up with such beautiful pictures! :) Thanks for "Betty!"
I always dread rain and/or snow just because of all the mud getting tracked in too! LOL!!
I just woke up this morning, and that was all I needed!!!
Great lighting on that flower.
I agree mud tracked in the house is the worst! Beautiful pictures. :)
What a wonderful photo!
This photos is so beautiful, and the texture makes such a difference. Thanks for sending that along!
Beautiful Nancy!
There is always something fresh when I see daisies. I grew a double the last few years that is fun.
Your "winter calm" image is a beauty, Nancy! Last night, I posted an image using two of your textures. Love the color!
Spring is certainly the season of mud, sadly we had snow today. Love the flower picture, I'm really looking forward to flower season, Laura
Delightful!
Oh gosh I would have a problem with dog tracks - you have more patience then I do. sandie
Lovely image and *Betty* is really beautiful, Nancy! Well done!
Happy Friday and weekend ahead :)
Wonderful photography.
Regards and best wishes
you can just look at this beautiful flower instead of the mud tracks!
Betty is a nice texture. Thanks! Beautiful flower pic. Hope things dry up for you so you can keep up with the mud. It was an ugly day here, too.
Beautiful flower shot love the texture too. Have a great weekend!
Gorgeous picture and delightful texture; thank you for sharing both the texture and your application technique.
A delicate creation, Nancy...:)JP
and didn't we just purchase floor wipes to clean those floors?? just sayin, i do remember these things!!
Beautiful daisies! I tried pixlr, and I think I'm going to have to try it some more. :-)
This really is a lovely photo. It would great as a large print on a wall.
It is sometimes ugly behind some beauties.
And muddy, for this case.
Beautiful image! I am amazed at your creativity. Thanks for sharing the techniques, I might have to give it a try. I hope you have a lovely weekend!
Floor wipes? I think you are mistaken! :)
really lovey image, and thanks for sharing the editing details...some day I'm going to get around to learning such things
This is the second daisy photo I've seen this morning....I'm getting calmer my the minute...LOL. One of these days, when I have some extra free time (what is that!?!), I'm going to tackle textures. Wonderful photo!
so pretty, and beautiful tones!
i have one of those two-bit swiffers for daily pug tracks, but what really kills me is sometimes my husband forgets to put the lid down on the toilet, and this NEVER gets overlooked by our (indoor/outdoor) cat! i don't see him play in his water dish, yet he feels it necessary to "wash up" in the toilet.
Lovely light in the images of the daisies, Nancy.
I'm calmer just looking at your photo. Wishes for a calm and peaceful day with no mud!
Gorgeous work. I love the texture on this . It is calming in so many ways
Totally beautiful, evoking peace and solitude.
Great shot and once again a wonderful use of the textures to make a good shot even better.
This is gorgeous. Wish I had a greater understanding of textures and how you work them. Someday I'll learn!
We had that snow that's the wet heavy kind and I have a three year old AND a dog...so yea...some mama has some cleaning to do...cue Eicky Ricardo voice ;)
Do you use these textures in photoshop?
That meant to say Ricky...stupid autocorrect
that is such a lovely and calming image!
very nicely done:)
I'm glad to see in the midst of your chaos you found some calm. Beautiful image! Love that texture. Can't wait to try it! :)
You post process your images to create such subtle beauty... I'm so glad you came by to share on 'Weekly Top Shot.'
What a gorgeous image. The processing is just right. I really love it!
What a pretty photo! Thanks so much for joining us in the Poetic Winter Photo Challenge. Have a great day!
The white flower and dark background do have a winter feel... nicely done! And thanks for texture!
