Poetic Winter: Calm

Wednesday was a beautiful day -- in the 50s and sunny with no wind to speak of.
Thursday, it turned nasty -- wet, cold, blustery.

If I ever needed a moment of calm, yesterday was it.

Do you have any idea how muddy it becomes around here with a bit of precipitation?
Mud prints from me and the two dogs tracked everywhere throughout the lower level of the house.
Impossible to keep up with it until it dries out.

Breathe in. Breathe out.

A perfect day to create. (What day isn't?)

Anyhoodles, here's a new free texture for you
called Betty.

Link to Download free Betty texture Here

And here's how I arrived at the above daisy image in Pixlr:

Upload base image

Add Betty layer
Decrease Overall Level to 53% (Darken)
Adjust opacity to 98% Screen

Add Duplicate layer of adjusted Betty above @ 25% Screen

Add Duplicate layer Betty (no adjustments) @ 52% Overlay

Erase texture from blooms

Add duplicate base image @ 32% Overlay

Add Watermark

Flatten Image.

~

Wishing you all a super weekend and don't forget to come back Saturday evening to link up with

Beautiful photo!! Thank you for the free texture I love it! I feel your pain with the mud, it hasn't even been rainy here, just lots of dew, and I mopped twice yesterday morning trying to get rid of HUGE MUDDY PAWPRINTS!! AKKK. It helps when I put a big towel in front of the doggy door, but not a lot. :)

I love that late winter calm, before spring moves in - hmm maybe I am ready for spring!

it has rained so much here i can see the river when we walk to the back yard, and the river is a good walk through the woods.

I do some post processing on my images ie: contract, levels, etc., but haven't done much in the way of textures or actions... I guess I need to play some! I'll download some and give it a try! Hope you don't get dumped on by the storm heading into Chicago area...

You've done a beautiful job with this photo, but I imagine it was beautiful to start with.

Karen said...

I adore your signature!... can you make me a new one? And then tell me again how to apply it? I have not been able to figure that out again, seems so simple to remember, no? *sigh* I would love an old fashion clipart like the one you used... should I look for one and send it to you? Am I being a pain in the rear?

love sweet and simple daisies...

and we have pounds of silt tracked in here all over the tile floor, too...

I really appreciate you letting us know *how* you end up with such beautiful pictures! :) Thanks for "Betty!"
I always dread rain and/or snow just because of all the mud getting tracked in too! LOL!!

There is always something fresh when I see daisies. I grew a double the last few years that is fun.

It is sometimes ugly behind some beauties.

And muddy, for this case.

This is the second daisy photo I've seen this morning....I'm getting calmer my the minute...LOL. One of these days, when I have some extra free time (what is that!?!), I'm going to tackle textures. Wonderful photo!

bon bon said...

so pretty, and beautiful tones!

i have one of those two-bit swiffers for daily pug tracks, but what really kills me is sometimes my husband forgets to put the lid down on the toilet, and this NEVER gets overlooked by our (indoor/outdoor) cat! i don't see him play in his water dish, yet he feels it necessary to "wash up" in the toilet.
