Knit 1, Purl @&%! ~ and Karen has cookies.

Yes, I'm still on my journey to rediscover knitting. But it has not been without its detours.
Specifically, the purl stitch was giving me fits.

However, I persevered and finished my first project yesterday while sitting in my rocker and listening to the
Nebraska/Minnesota game on the radio.

Poetic Mini Gauntlets
I'm hoping I have enough yarn left over to knit a matching scarf.

You can find the pattern for these gauntlets here.
The yarn is Cherry Cola, made by Red Heart.

~

On Friday, thanks to Karen at This Old House 2, I made these

Candy Corn Cookies

They are delicious, addictive and most importantly, my husband loves them.

Please go visit my friend, Karen.

Not only has she decorated her beautiful country home (and blog) for the upcoming holiday,
Karen has (the recipe for Candy Corn Sugar) cookies

This color scheme is SO CUTE!! I love that they are knitted in garter stitch. Did you knit them flat or in the round? A beautiful job!!

LOVE those fingerless gloves!!! If you ever sell them, I'm a buyer. Let me know! and thank you, dear friend :-)

Those are great hand warmers!

The knitting pattern through down the gauntlet and you were able to pick it up and run with it. Well done! I find that the instruction "@&%!" is an integral part of every knitting pattern I ever attempt.

Those are really cool! I like how your fingers are still exposed so that you can 'use' them!

I saw that recipe and it looked so good but I haven't tried them.

Nancy, love your hand warmers. A friend made me three pair and I don't think I've had them off since she gave them to me. Where did you get your pattern. I do knit, a little, nothing major. I think I could maybe make these.

Your photos are great. I love the colours of your yarn. I recently learned to knit but I don't have much time at present to practise. I've only graduated to my 2nd style of dishcloth and I've made a couple pair of chldren's slippers. I find I need time to learn new patterns. I love a simple dishcloth pattern. I find it relaxing to make as I rest.

I can limp through crochet but knitting didn't stick.

These are wonderful...and will come in handy.

Nancy, I love your knitted gloves! That's something I never really learned, but would love to someday. Oh, and I just visited the link to get that recipe - how fun and thanks for passing it on!!

I love the colors, and the hand warmers looks so warm! I saw someone driving a few days ago that was knitting--They had their hands stuck through the top of the steering wheel and there was what looked like a scarf draped on the dash...Talk about multi-tasking--We were all going 70+ -- YIKES!!!

Candy Corn cookies and newly knit gloves - you've been very busy on your day "off" from blogging!

Those hand warmers are amazing! I haven't knitted since I was a young teen. I wouldn't even know how to start anymore, so I'm very impressed by anyone who can actually make anything.

great gloves. i'm an obsessive fingerless glove knitter, but haven't had a lot of time to knit lately.

Denise at Autumn Sky said...

Oh now I must go on Etsy and find some hand warmers like yours. Because there is absolutely no way I am going to ever learn to knit a pair for myself.

Evelyn S. said...

The handwarmers are wonderful! Beautifully done, Nancy! (BTW...didn't Nebraska beat Minnesota instead of Wisconsin?)

Arti said...

They look very beautiful. And the colors too add to the beauty. Have a fabulous week ahead Nancy:)

Nancy @ A Rural Journal said...

@Evelyn -- you are so right! I don't know why I wrote Wisconsin. I've corrected it. Senior moment. :)

Wristwarmers.
Couldn't live without them. Both indoors and out.
Mine are pure thick mulberry silk, and I sew little beads on them to cheer me up when the weather is bad.
I usetiny round needles so as not to have a seam at all.

Lisa @ Two Bears Farm said...

Your handwarmers look great!

Oh yes, I saw those cookies over at Karen's....

Kimberly said...

I have zero patience for knitting. Nope none. I'll let the masters do it and I reap the benefits...a.k.a my mother ;)

Nancy @ A Rural Journal said...

@ Tanya, I used a regular 9 X 5 1/2 inch loaf pan. The cookies will be on the small side.
