Bring Me The Head Of Osama Bin Laden

Peach tree blossoms

This was the first thought that popped into my head Sunday night.

Burial at sea? Really?

Must have seemed like a good idea at the time.

I so need a T-shirt that says,

Conspiracy is not a Theory.

There's my political commentary for the year.

~

We were supposed to get frost Sunday night, so I went outside to take some photographs of the blossoms and blooms, maybe for one last time.

No frost, but it's a possibility tonight as well.

I'm crossing my fingers and toes, because we have not  had any peaches for the past two years, due to cold spring temps and icy precipitation.

We grow Reliance and Elberta peach trees in the orchard.
Reliance are my absolute, juice-runnin'-down-your-chin, favorite.

~

On tap for this week -- the pick-up stick game in the yard continues.
We really need to mow,
but there are so many sticks and twigs still left over from the tree removal last fall,
no mowing can happen until the yard is clear.
Is it obvious this is not one of my favorite activities?
I do need to hit it, though, or the trash bags will be referenced at least once,
if not twice, on the weekend by a certain union iron worker.

~

We received our 10 free Arbor Day trees last week, so those also need to be put in the ground.
I'm pleased with the assortment they sent this year:

1 Arrowwood Viburnum
1 Bur Oak
2 Canadian Hemlock
1 Gray Dogwood
1 Northern Red Oak
1 River Birch
1 Sargent Crabapple
1 Tuliptree
1 Washington Hawthorn

~

And an update on Sioux (you can read about her torn ACL here.)
She is currently on an anti-inflammatory pill,
Previcox, for the next few days.
After her "resting period" is over in three weeks,
we'll take her back to the vet for a follow-up.

She is doing better, but still limps when she gets up from a nap.
The Doc said that if she does not improve at the end of 30 days,
that monthly injections in the knee area might be an option for her in lieu of surgery.
I'm assuming by her current progress that this will be our next step.

~

I want to thank everyone that submitted their photographs to this week's Your Sunday Best Photography Challenge hosted by yours truly. A total of twenty-five talented photographers participated.

The images are nothing short of spectacular. I appreciate the opportunity to get to know you all a bit better and to view the different photography styles represented. I hope you are having fun with it. I know I am.

  1. I thought the exact same thing... "conspiracy is not a theory". Honestly.... I wonder how people can believe it. Since when has the US only taken ONE photograph of the dead body of a renown terrorist or not done a full video documentary of the burial? I may not know everything, but I do know this: if it were true, there would be hundreds of pictures and video sequences on the event. It seems so surreal.

  10. I'm glad Sioux is doing better poor baby. Beautiful close up, I can't wait for the blooms to pop out.

  11. You and I thought the same thing, Nancy.

I do hope Sioux heals well. ♥

  12. I think I have to agree with your conspiracy theory. Time will tell I guess.

    Your trees sound lovely!

    Hoping Sioux recovers quickly!

I found you at the Barn Hop! I will definitely be linking up on Sunday. Can't wait!

    Wishing Sioux a speedy recovery.

  14. When I heard "Burial at Sea", well that made no sense at all! I figured - display the body and blow it to smithereens in front of a tv camera or cremate him in front of a bunch of individuals and take ashes in a plane and dump over the ocean. (or in the sewage system)

Oh, I love tulip poplars and they grow so fast! I would love one in the front yard! When our son was 3, he and his Dad planted one and it's just huge!

    Loving hugs for Sioux!

  15. You know his body is on ice somewhere to be tested and analyzed over and over for years to come...

    ReplyDelete
  16. They sure were in a hurry to get rid of his body weren't they? Guess they didn't want to keep his virgins waiting! I've also heard this happened 2 weeks ago, 1 week ago, and this past weekend...Somebody needs to get the story straight!

  17. I hope the dog does well with the meds and injection and that he doesn't need surgery! Those free trees sound great. We only have one pear tree, which hasn't given us a pear in three years due to weather....this year, there are literally thousands of flowers on it, so I'm hoping for a good year of pears!

  18. Well its good to know I am not the only one who raised an eyebrow on that! I guess I need that Tshirt too! LOL I said the same thing to honeyman.

Oh and we are on our 2nd refrigerator in 7 years! They are obviously not made very well these days! I saw your comment on having 3 in 10 yrs LOL

  19. Pretty capture of the flower. How nice you got lots of trees planted this year. Hope you can visit my Ruby Tuesday page here.

  20. So glad to hear your pup is doing better :)
We have a frost warning here too, but so far its still warm. I really want to start that garden!! Soon I hope :)
Have fun planing all those trees!!

  21. Beautiful picture today. Hope Sioux improves. It's sad to watch them be in pain.

I haven't been participating in the Sunday best due to lack of time. Hopefully after this week (my last final for the semester) I'll be able to!

  22. I love those peaches also. I halve them and put brown sugar moistened with some balsalmic vinegar and grill them.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I really hope your peach trees don't freeze. It feels like we gamble with the weather every year when it comes to fruit trees.

I had the same thoughts about OBL as well. I think most people feel that way.

  24. They said it was because that was the only thing to do within the '24 hour' time period they had to work with. Hmm? Peaches sound so yummy! Hoping you don't get any frost. I hope Sioux is healing up quickly. Sweet girl! :)

  25. i'm pretty sure march here, had more warmer days then april. or that's just my perspective thinking spring should just get on with it already!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I still wonder if they really landed on the moon..... ;);)

NICE selection of trees. I'm a tad jealous. I'll be the one tiptoeing through your yard on a summer night- stealing your fruit. I'll bring back jam of course:0)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Nice shot! And it sounds like you received a great assortment of trees. Good planting!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Oh I do hope for a warmer spring for you. I'd like some of those peaches! I like your new picture btw!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Even tho you didn't ask I thought I would try to help you out with the peaches or any fruit trees you might have, when we still had our plum trees,I would go out early in the morning, before the sun came out, and spray them down with the water hose to wash off any ice,or frost. the year I did that we had a bumpper crop, you just have to wash the ice or frost off before the sun hits it,thats all!!! Blessings jane

  30. Wow,free trees. And a Canadian Hemlock! Sweet!

I have heard the orchard growers in the Okanagan here do the same thing that Jane suggests.

Wishing Sioux a remarked improvement on the next Vet visit. Is it Cortisone they are thinking of trying on her?

  31. Simply beautiful photo! Nice job.
    Hope Sioux feels better soon.

  32. Burial at sea? Very Disney like reminds me of The Pirates of the Caribbean/Capt. Jack sparrow walk the plank drama.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Lol, I can suppose they were stupid enough to bury him at sea, but on the other hand they have betrayed my trust for so many decades now, how am I supposed to believe anything they say? I wouldn't even believe photos - my tv news station had one of the dead bin Laden, but it turned out to be fake.

As for the moon, I've heard so much reasonable evidence against the possibility of it that I still doubt, even after all this time! And I know I'm being silly, I laugh at myself over it! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Gorgeous shot! As per Bin Laden, we are on the same boat. As long as they don't show the real dead body, I won't believe it.

Red Tulips is my RT, hope you can come and visit.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'll take cherry blossoms and trees instead ;)

    ReplyDelete
  36. I was a bit suspect of the whole burial at sea thing myself. Love peach trees...we have three on our farm. Nothing like 'em.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I also have doubts...this was a story in X-files style...

  38. kouzelný obrázek

  39. What a gorgeous photograph Nancy!
We planted 4 peach trees last year, but unless the weather changes, there will be few, if any peaches this year.
