Rural Thursday is a Weekly Blog Hop where participants can share information and photos about what's currently happening in and around their rural/country/farm home.

Here's how you can join in:

1. Publish a blog post about
  • general information describing what's happening in your country/rural/farm life,
or a post relating to a rural-themed subject that will benefit all Rural Thursday readers and participants,
such as
  • farming,
  • rural-themed photography,
  • recipes,
  • homesteading tips,
  • critters and pets,
  • DIY projects,
  • rural-themed giveaways
  • anything and everything that embraces living the simple life.
2. Please make sure to add the Rural Thursday button to your blog post and link back here.

3. Please link to your actual post and not your home page.

4. If you don't have a blog, you are welcome to leave a comment below our post regarding what special things are happening in your rural world.

5. I'd love it if you would follow A Rural Journal and Two Bears Farm if you participate, but it is not mandatory. I follow back, just sayin'...

Your hosts for Rural Thursday are Nancy @ A Rural Journal and Lisa @ Two Bears Farm

(The Hosts of Rural Thursday reserve the right to remove any links that are deemed inappropriate.)

Spirea. Rhymes with... well, you know.

Do you have an object, a person or a place --
that no matter how many times you try, you can't for the life of you,
ever remember the name?

I have a long list of these things -- the name is always on the tip of my tongue -- and it will bother me for
days until I come up with the correct answer.

Usually, I run to Google to come to my rescue (what did we ever do without it?)

: : :

Like,

was it Eva or Zsa Zsa that played in Green Acres?

Is it two cups to a pint? How many pints in a quart?

Oh, the humanity.

: : :

My mother, bless her 82 year-old heart, can never
remember spirea

She has quite a few of these bushes in
her yard, but can never recall their name.

It's not a memory issue.

She does her own taxes, manages her finances,
and can recall the minutest detail about
things that happened to her when she was a young girl.

But spirea? It's apparently her Kryptonite of instant recall.
Can't remember the name of that
little shrub under any circumstance.

Weird.

So if I happen to be in the general vicinity, I'll pipe in with --
"rhymes with diarrhea..."
then she remembers it right away.

It's one of, if not the only thing,
I can feel superior about
when it comes to my mom.

A Walk in the Park.

After the nephew's graduation party last Saturday -- Shane, his mom and I went downtown to view the
sculptures at the Spirit of Nebraska Wilderness Park.

The Spirit of Nebraska's Wilderness Park consists of 67 bronze and stainless steel works by Kent Ullberg, N.A., F.N.S.S., of Corpus Christi, Texas.

I'll be posting a few of my favorite photos
taken that evening -- during the next few weeks.
